While the endpoint of our engagements with our clients is a tangible product or service our clients use with or without our continued support, the engagement itself is similar to a consulting process. Unlike other areas of manufacturing where the concept of the end product is often much more definable at the outset, making products out of information is usually a different beast altogether with its own project management hurdles to get through.
This is true for one fundamental reason: if we already knew what information told us, we wouldn’t need to do anything further with it. Most clients don’t know what their data will tell them until it has been collected, organised, processed, evaluated, and visualised against expected benchmarks. The quality of information is paramount unless you invest in the deep knowledge about different kinds of information. The ins and how to organise and process the data that clients often collect has all numbers of peculiarities specific to an organisation and their existing systems for collecting information. Equally, there are often many different ways in which you can “skin a cat”.
It is often not well understood that AI is not a single thing but a diverse range of underlying methodologies and approaches in constant development by the scientific community.
